Italic in WhatsApp is the marker around the words, not a font menu. The sample is: We reply _within the hour_.
What this tool does
Italic text on WhatsApp uses _ at each end of the phrase. We reply _within the hour_. The other styles on the main formatter use different markers, so this page only teaches italic.
Markers count toward the character limit of a template. If the body is close to 1024 characters, formatting can push it over.
How to use it
- Type the sentence, select the words, and apply italic.
- Remove a space if the preview does not change. * word * does not render.
- Copy the marked-up text.

Use one style on the word that matters. A whole paragraph in the same style is harder to read than plain text.
Common mistakes
- Mixing this marker with a second marker on the same word.
- Putting the marker only at the start.
- Expecting HTML to work instead.
